Wells should be dug near crab holes, near sultan champa trees (Calophyllum inophyllum) or umbar (Ficus glomerata) or jaman (Eugenia jambolana) trees. For digging a well one should search for a low lying spot in the field. Here a pit 2 m long, 1 m wide and 45 cm deep should be dug. During a calm night one should sleep in the pit keeping an ear to the ground to hear the sound of flowing underground water. Then one can determine the direction and quantity of underground water and dig a well accordingly. |
